Skills Assessment Requirements
The Skills Assessment Authority is Trades Recognition Australia (TRA). For a positive assessment:
- Qualification
- Must have an AQF Certificate III in Airconditioning and Refrigeration or an equivalent international qualification.
- Experience
- 12 months full-time work within the past three years.
- If qualifications are from overseas, three years of post-qualification experience is required.
- For Australian RPL qualifications, three years of post-qualification or six years combined pre- and post-qualification experience is needed.
Visa Options
- Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189)
- Permanent visa with no sponsorship requirement.
- 65 points minimum required, though higher scores may improve the chance of invitation.
- Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190)
- State-nominated permanent visa with additional points for state nomination.
- Requires state/territory nomination.
- Skilled Work Regional Visa (Subclass 491)
- Provides five years of stay with a pathway to permanent residency via Subclass 191.
- Requires regional nomination.
- Temporary Skill Shortage Visa (Subclass 482)
- Employer-sponsored visa allowing up to 4 years of stay.
- Requires two years of work experience in the occupation.
- Graduate Temporary Visa (Subclass 485)
- Available for international graduates from Australian institutions.
- Requires completion of a two-year CRICOS-registered course.

- Requires sponsorship from a regional employer.
- Offers a pathway to Subclass 191 permanent residency.

Points System for Skilled Migration
- Age: Maximum points for 25-32 years old.
- English Proficiency: At least Competent English (IELTS 6.0 or equivalent).
