Gardener 482 Visa – Is This Occupation Eligible?

gardener 482 visa

Employers sometimes hope to sponsor gardeners under the Temporary Skill Shortage visa. However, the ANZSCO occupation “Gardener” (362611) is no longer on the subclass 482 occupation list. This means a standard 482 nomination for a gardener cannot be approved. This article explains whether a gardener 482 visa is available and what alternatives employers can consider.

A gardener 482 visa nomination cannot be approved under the current occupation list.

Is Gardener an Eligible Occupation for the 482 Visa?

The related occupation “Landscape Gardener” remains on the list, so if your business genuinely requires landscape gardening duties you may consider nominating that role. Alternatively, some regions offer labour agreements, such as the Far North Queensland Designated Area Migration Agreement (FNQ DAMA), which lists Gardener (362211). Under that DAMA, a worker with two years of experience in the designated area could progress to an Employer Nomination Scheme visa.

Other options include the Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Subclass 494) visa if the position is in a designated regional area. An experienced migration agent can assess your business needs and the applicant’s skills to determine whether another occupation classification or visa pathway is appropriate.

Occupation eligibility depends on accurate ANZSCO classification and genuine duties performed in the role.
