Importing Partner Visa Applications — What to Do When ImmiAccount Access is Restricted

When taking over as a registered migration agent for a Partner visa application lodged by another agent or by the applicant themselves, gaining access to the application through ImmiAccount can sometimes be challenging.

Common Issue: Inactive ImmiAccount

If the original applicant lodged the application more than 12 months ago and the ImmiAccount has become inactive, you cannot simply import the application through the standard process.

The Solution

For Partner visa applications where you cannot import the application, you can send Form 956 (Appointment of a Migration Agent) to the DHA tech support team. They can then provide access to the application through the agent’s ImmiAccount.

This process requires the original applicant or sponsor to sign the Form 956 appointing you as their migration agent. Once tech support has processed the request, the application should appear in your professional ImmiAccount for ongoing management.

Note that applications dormant for extended periods may require additional verification steps, and in some cases, the Department may have already taken action on the application during the period it went unmonitored.
