Linking Unfinalised 407 Visa Applications to New Nominations

What to Do When a 407 Sponsor Closes Down

When a business closes while a 407 nomination and visa application are still pending, visa applicants need to understand their options for continuing their training with a new sponsor.

The Challenge:

If a business is closing down with an unfinalised 407 nomination and visa application, and the applicant has found a new 407 sponsor, the question arises whether the unfinalised visa can be linked to a new nomination.

The Process:

When a new sponsor is willing to provide training, a new nomination application must be lodged. The existing unfinalised visa application can then be linked to the new nomination application submitted by the new sponsor.

Practical Considerations:

The new sponsor must meet all 407 sponsorship requirements, the training program must be properly documented, and the nominated occupation must be appropriate for the visa applicant’s circumstances.

Acting Quickly:

Given visa condition requirements and the vulnerability of being without a sponsor, acting promptly to secure new arrangements is advisable when a sponsor’s business is closing.
