Visa Pathways for European Citizens
eVisitor (Subclass 651)
Citizens of EU member states and several other European countries can apply for the free eVisitor (Subclass 651) for short visits of up to 3 months. This is ideal for initial visits, business trips, or exploring Australia before committing to a longer-term visa.
Working Holiday Visa (Subclass 417 or 462)
Many European countries have Working Holiday arrangements with Australia. Citizens of the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Belgium, Netherlands, and others aged 18–35 can apply for the Subclass 417 or Subclass 462 to work and travel in Australia for up to 3 years.
Skilled Migration
European professionals in engineering, IT, healthcare, construction, finance, and trades are in high demand across Australia. The points-tested visa system (Subclass 189, Subclass 190, Subclass 491) provides pathways to permanent residency. European qualifications from accredited institutions are well-recognised in Australia. Check your eligibility with our Points Calculator.
Employer Sponsored Visas
Australian employers actively recruit European workers, particularly in healthcare, engineering, IT, hospitality, and skilled trades. The Subclass 482 allows you to work for your sponsor with a pathway to permanent residency.
Partner Visas
Many European-Australian couples form while travelling, studying, or working abroad. We help with partner visa applications — both offshore and onshore — as well as prospective marriage visas. Partner visas are particularly popular among European applicants.
English Language Requirements
Non-native English speakers from Europe will typically need to demonstrate English proficiency through IELTS, PTE Academic, TOEFL, or OET. Higher English scores earn additional points on the skilled visa points test. Citizens from Ireland, the UK, the US, Canada, and New Zealand are generally exempt.
Skills Assessment for European Qualifications
European qualifications from Bologna Process-aligned institutions are generally well-recognised. Each occupation has a designated assessing authority in Australia. Our agents ensure your European credentials are properly assessed and documented.
