Question
A person received a Notice of Intention to Cancel their student visa at the airport while in immigration clearance. The reason given was “No COE.” What options are available?
Answer
Not holding a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) usually means the student has either completed their previous course and has not enrolled in a new course, or the previous CoE was cancelled. There is very little that can be done at the airport once a Notice of Intention to Cancel has been issued. Unless there are exceptional circumstances, the person is likely to be refused entry. In urgent situations at the airport, there is limited ability for migration professionals to assist once the person is already in immigration clearance and facing cancellation.
