Question
When filling in an application for a Visitor Visa, a warning message appeared about an unfinalised application. The client is unaware of any outstanding application, and it could be associated with a previous non‑registered overseas agent. How can we find out what this relates to and what impact it would have overall?
Answer
One option is to lodge a Form 956 and send it to the Department of Home Affairs requesting that any existing application be transferred to your ImmiAccount. This may allow you to identify the unfinalised application and manage it appropriately.
In practice, migration agents at VisaTasker have encountered this exact warning when submitting applications. After double‑checking with the client that no unfinished applications exist, we continued lodging the new visa and the visa was granted without issue. It appears this warning may sometimes be just a glitch in the ImmiAccount system rather than evidence of an actual outstanding application.
