Visa sponsorship for sewerage treatment plant operator NSW roles are increasingly relevant in rural and environmentally sensitive locations. Employers often face challenges when these specialist roles are not listed on the CSOL.

Question
A client needs a skilled Sewage Operator/Hydrographer/Plant Engineer for a NSW rural sector national park. This specialist environmental services position is required as part of operations within a national park environment. The occupation cannot be found on the Consolidated Sponsored Occupation List (CSOL). Does it come under a DAMA?
Answer
If the occupation is covered under a Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA), it would have to be in place for the region where the national park is located. Otherwise, a company‑specific labour agreement may be necessary. For roles that go beyond a sewage water technician – and would suit an industrial or environmental engineer with a degree, diploma or Cert IV – the labour agreement pathway is usually the appropriate solution when the occupation is not on the CSOL.
